The new Director and Curator of the Orillia Museum of Art and History has expansion on her mind.
Lynda Whiston says one of her main objectives is to raise enough money to complete two more floors of the Museum.
She says they need to raise about two million dollars to achieve that goal.
Whiston says all the plans are in place and the blueprints have been drawn.
In fact she says the plans have been in place for almost 10 years, but there has never been the funding to complete the expansion.
She says because of a lack of space, the museum simply cannot display all of its 9 thousand artifacts that they have, the majority of which are in storage.
Whiston says a large part of her job is preparing application forms for numerous grants that become available from the various levels of government.
She says what is critical for the future of the museum is stable consistent funding that will allow them to operate.
Whiston says she is grateful to the City of Orillia for the funding it provides to the museum and is hopeful the new council will continue support the museum as they have done in the past.
