Orillia council has given the green light for a number of youth to develop green thumbs.
A community garden will be set up in High Street park near the Brian Orser community centre.
Kevin Gangloff is the director of the Orillia Youth centre and he says young people from the centre will look after the gardens. He says young people will be doing the planting and harvesting of many of the crops.
He says the food then will be used at the Centre in healthy cooking workshops.
Gangloff says the young people will really be getting their hands dirty. Gangloff says this will be an excellent opportunity for community members who are expert gardners to help teach these young people what they know about plants and gardens.
