Orillia is moving up in the rankings as being one of the best place to live in Canada for this year according to Money Sense Magazine.
The latest ranking put the Sunshine Town at 53 in the national rankings, just ahead of Duncan BC and just behind St. John’s Newfoundland.
That is good news for Orillia’s Manager of Economic Development Dan Landry, who says this is a very positive development and will make the city even more attractive to potential investors or new residents.
He says what’s even more important is that Orillia is the top ranked city in Simcoe County.
Landry says when you combine this ranking with other surveys that show Orillia as one of the top 10 communities to invest in Canada and one of the top three in Ontario, they have a very positive message to deliver that this city is a good place to live and do business.
He says the fact 6 new doctors will be moving to town over the next year also is another measure that makes Orillia a good place to live.
He says in this latest survey, the presence of Lakehead university was not taken into account, so in next years ranking its more than likely Orillia will move even higher in the rankings.
Landry says breaking into the top 50 places in Canada to live would truly be a remarkable achievement.
