The Orillia budget process is under way once again.
Council has approved a motion from Mayor Angelo Orsi that would see work on the budget begin by late next month.
The motion also calls for staff to prepare draft 2011 operating and capital budget submissions for the budget committee, including scenarios for a tax adjustment rate of 0, 1, 2 or 3 percent. Mayor Orsi says these are not suggested tax increases.
He says they also have to realize there are some increases they have no control over
The report from consultant Grant Thornton on revamping the whole budget process should be done in a week or two and Mayor Orsi has put together a schedule on how council can move forward pending receipt of the report.
Council will begin looking at the budget in the middle of next month and should have the process wrapped by mid May.
