One Orillia Councillor not thrilled with the Fire departments plan to charge non residents a fee for attending a motor vehicle accident or carĀ fires.
That is one of the changes the department presented to Council committee.
Linda Murray says those charges, which can be as high as 400 dollars an hourĀ for each fire truck called to an accident, would be charged to the accident victims insurance company.
She says with insurance rates soaring, that is just not right especially for visitors to the city.
Murray says to say other communities are doing so then Orillia should do it as well is just not good enough.
Council next week will vote on the fee proposal.
