One of the worlds best known female artists will be the headliner at this years Mariposa Folk Festival here in Orillia.
Emmylou Harris will be featured on the main stage Saturday night.
The 12 time grammy award winners appearance was first announced Tuesday Morning on Sunshine 89.1 by Artistic Director Mike Hill who says they have been trying to get Harris back to the festival for a long time.
He says this time her touring schedule coincided with the Mariposa dates and that was that.
Mariposa runs from July 8 to the 10 at Tudhope Park in Orillia.
Hill says this will be the second appearance for Harris at the festival, the first one being a long long time ago.
He says she is releasing a new album in April, and one of the songs is a tribute to the late Kate McGarrigle who died last year of Cancer.
McGarrigle and her sister Anna also played Mariposa in the past as well.
Hill says that Emmylou has a lot of Canadian connections and one of her earlier albums, Wrecking Ball has half of the songs on it written by Canadians.
