A very successfull fund raising event in Coldwater Saturday to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The 8th annual curling bonspiel has exceeded its goal and raised more than 27 thousand dollars for Cancer research.
Organzier Karen Styles is thrilled with the amount raised by the 24 teams who took part in the event and says its remarkable how a small community can rally together for such an important cause.
She says she could not have put together this fund raiser without a lot of help from her friends and other members of the community.
Since it began the Curling for the Cure event has raised more than $170,000 for Cancer research.
Vickie Beech of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation says its small events like this that bring communities together and provide the funds they need to continue groundbreaking research looking for a cure to Breast Cancer.
She says this allows them to invest in the most promising types of research, not only in Ontario, but around the world as well.
Beech says this year they are giving more than 10 million dollars in grants to some of the top cancer researchers in Ontario to help in their efforts to find a cure.
This years event was hosted by the Coldwater curling club.
