The warm weather and rain of the past few days has really hit local snowmobilers hard.
Local trails are closed and according to John Britten, the president of the Orillia District Snowmobile Club will remain closed until they get colder weather and about 5 inchs of new snow.
Trails outside of Orillia still have a good base and the trails are in good shape and it should’t take too long to get them back in condition once again.
Britten says the bad news is the trails will remain closed all weekend and even if things freeze up, they need snow to make the trails safe again.
