Nominations are now open for the 20th annual Nelle Carter Woman of the Year Award.
The award, presented by the Orillia Business Women’s Association, recognizes a successful business woman who is dedicated to her community and family.
The award is named after the late Nelle Carter, who was the president of her family’s business, president of the Orillia Quota Club, the first woman elected to Orillia council as alderman, and active member of St. Paul’s United Church.
Past winners have included Maureen Way, Krista Storey, Karen O’Coin, Sherry Lawson, and Lucy Stewart.
Nominees can be from Orillia, Rama First Nation, Oro-Medonte Township, Ramara Township, or Severn Township.
There’s also a Young Women of the Year Award handed out to a a grade 12 student nominated by her peers.
The women will be honoured at Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club on May 11.
