The reconstruction of Colborne Street in Orillia will go ahead.
In a recorded vote, Orillia Council decided to tender the 3.5 million dollar project that will see reconstruction of the street from Andrew St. to Dunedin St.
The vote to proceed with the project was 6-3 in favour.
The majority of councillor say the street is a major entranceway to the downtown and reconstruction of this road goes a long way to delivering the promise of improving the downtown and waterfront.
Councillors say already a portion of Colborne St. from Front to Andrew has been reconstrcued so its a natural progresion in the improvement of the area to move forward with this latest upgrade.
