Orillia waste management officials are looking for a little trash talk from the public.
The city is holding two public fourms early next month to talk about waste management and about developing a five-year Waste Minimization Plan.
Greg Preston is the Superintendent of Waste Management for the city and says these fourms will also deal with ways to reduce waste disposal at the Orillia Waste Diversion Site and to improve diversion and recycling programs.
Currently the diversion rate for city residents is just a little bit over 60 per cent, but they want to increase those numbers to 70% by 2015.
Preston says some of the proposals that will be discussed during these meetings include looking at a mandatory recycling and compositing bylaw and looking at setting up new diversion programs.
By-weekly garbage pick up is also something they would be taking a look.
Those two meetings are going to be held Thursday, March 3, from 7 until 9 in the Council chambers.
The second meeting takes place Wednesday, March 9 from 2 until to 4:30 p.m, also in the Council chambers.
