Nominations for the annual Character Recognition awards are being sought out within the Simcoe County District School Board.
The SCDSB is looking for nominations of anyone who demonstrate positive character attributes in public elementary and secondary schools, learning centres, Education Centre offices, maintenance buildings and other board facilities.
Principal of Allandale Heights Patrick Miller says the awards are a validation of what students, staff and volunteers do each year.
Miller says the Board doesn’t really have any set parameters as everyone’s definition of positive character traits are different, so to use your best judgement in nominating someone.
Anyone who is nominated receives a certificate and then 100 members from that pool are selected at random and are invited to a special dinner to be held on May 5th.
Miller says you can nominate a student, staff member or volunteer online, through the board office, or you can get your nomination form from any of the SCDSB school’s front offices.
Recommendations for this recognition are being accepted until February 25, 2011.
