Orillia OPP once again issuing a warning to local snow mobile operators to exercies extreme caution when operating their machines, especially on area lakes.
This follows the second accident in less than a week on Lake Couchiching where snowmobile operators lost control of their sleds after hitting obstacles while driving across the ice.
The most recent incident occurred Sunday when both occupants of a snow machine were thrown from the sled after striking a snow bank which was approximately two feet high.
The male driver , who was from Cumberland Beach was transported by ambulance to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
The female passenger, a Toronto resident was transported by air ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital.
It was just last Tuesday when an Orillia woman was snowmobiling on the ice when her ski caught a rut in the snow and her machine flipped.
She suffered minor injuries
The OPP would like to remind the public when snowmobiling to be aware of changing conditions and to always be on the look out for obstacles especially when travelling off marked trails.
