Its time to think about giving the gift of life.
Last weeks winter strom had a big impact on local blood doner clinics, especially in Orillia and area as the weather kept a lot of people indoors.
As a result the Canadian Blood Services putting out a special request for people to attend the next clinc scheduled for this Thursday here in Orillia.
Community Development Co ordinator julie Rose says there is a strong need for donors.
She says regardless of the weather, hospitals continue to draw on the supply of blood for patients who require treatment for cancer, surgery, trauma, and other medical situations.
Rose says while there is no current shortage of blood, Canadian Blood Services is taking proactive measures and asking blood donors from Orillia and area to help replenish our national blood supply so that we may avoid any potential shortages.
This Thursday’s clinic is being helt at The Mariposa Inn, 400 Memorial Avenue this Thursday from 12:00 pm 7:30 p.m.
Rose says walk-in donors are welcome, however, appointments are preferable as they help clinics run smoothly.
