Simcoe County in the process of putting together a series of recommendations to create a continuous comprehensive trail network through the region.
This comes after four public trails strategy meetings that were held through out the County during the last half of January.
Director of Planning Development and Tourism for Simcoe County, Bryan Mackell says those meetings resulted in some great new information dealing with trails they may have overlooked or trails they didnt even know about.
He says they received a lot of support and ideas from all of the users from cyclists to hikers to walkers and even snowmobile clubs that turned out at all four meetings.
MacKell says they now will start to put all this information together and come up with some recommendations on how they see the links being furthered in the county so there is a comprehensive system of trails in place.
He says that would allow bikers or hikers to travel around the county over a number of days and take in any number of attractions or sights that Simcoe has to offer.
MacKell says as far as the County is concerned all of these trails are on public land taken over by various municipalities.
He says for example a person could go from Barrie to Orillia, over to Colderwater into Tiny and Tay Townships and then through Springwater back to Barrie.
MacKell says that is the comprehensive type of trail linkage they are aiming for.
He hopes they can have a series of recommendations to present to the public completed by the end of April.
