Its going to be an exciting day for a lot of little ones in Orillia and Simcoe County today (Monday)
This the first day for registeration for Kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year.
All children who are 4 years of age by December 31, 2011, are eligible for registration in the Simcoe County District School Boards Kindergarten program.
Kathleen Corrigan is an Early Years Consultant with the board and says parents should first phone the school their child will be attending and make an appointment for registeration.
She says when the parents come to the school with their child, then need to bring certain documtation for registeration.
That includes birthdate documentation like Canadian birth certificate, Certificate of Canadian Citizenship, Canadian Passport.
Corrigan says parents also must provide Proof of your child’s address like the parents Drivers Licence or Local Property Tax Assessment or a Credit Card Statement or Bank Statement
She says its also important to bring along a record of Immunizations.
Corrigan says after the child is registered they are given a folder containing all sorts of information to show the parent and child exactly what going to kindergarten will be like.
She also says there is a dvd included in this kit as well.
