A number of local community Groups continue to fight a proposal to construct 10 large solar panel projects in the region.
A meeting was held Saturday in Coldwater to allow local residents a say in the matter and provide more information on the subject.
In attendance for the meeting were Simcoe North Conservative MP Bruce Stanton and Simcoe North Conservative MPP Garfield Dunlop.
The proposed projects would impact farmland in Oro Medonte, and Severn, Springwater and Tay townships.
Bernard Pope, who is the founder of Ontario Farmland Preservation, says the proposal will strip the region of a significant amount of agricultural land.
The farmland is leased by local farmers for the project and Pope worries that the solar projects will not allow the land to be reused as farmland after the lease is up.
He says moving forward that it is important that farmland in the region is protected.
