A terrifying day for a municipal worker in Angus, trapped inside a snowblower while doing maintenance on it.
The worker was trying to dislodge something in the auger of the salt hopper of a sidewalk snow plow just after eight yesterday morning, when some of his clothing got caught in the machinery and he was pulled into it.
Paramedics work from the same building and helped the man while the snowplow was taken apart. He was freed and airlifted to hospital in Toronto.
The man’s injuries are described as serious.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
Police say the quick reaction of a fellow employee getting the snowplow’s blades turned off likely saved the man’s life.
