Angus Man Acquitted In Crash That Killed A Soldier

Barrie | by Ian MacLennan
The defence argued Andrew Stewart passed out after coughing moments before the crash.

An Angus man has been acquitted on charges following a crash that killed a soldier from CFB Borden.

28 year old Andrew Stewart was found not guilty of dangerous driving causing death in a November 2015 crash,  which took the life of Master Corporal David Anderson.

The Crown alleged Stewart was texting when his vehicle blew through a stop sign in Angus.

The defence claimed Stewart had briefly passed out from coughing after using a vape inhaler moments before the crash.

The jury took two days to reach a verdict.
